I do love living here. Everyone is so nice to me. I like going to mass at Maryville and enjoy the classes. The staff are lovely and they always treat me nice. They help me with things in the house. The Manager and Deputy Manager are lovely, and spend time with us all.

St. Raphael’s Home offers accommodation, support and care to 21 people with learning disabilities. The accommodation is provided between two buildings located adjacent to each other. The original St. Raphael’s building comprises eight en-suite bedrooms, with staff support for personal care throughout the day, and a member of staff sleeping-in at night. It is fitted with a lift so the rooms are accessible to all. The second building, Fatima House, offers accommodation for 13 people, six on the ground floor and seven on the upper floor. All of the bedrooms are single with one of them en-suite. There is a lift in Fatima House which provides access to/from the top floor to the ground floor. Fatima House provides support for personal care on a round the clock basis including waking night staff, and has a higher staff: resident ratio.

Our facilities are designed for comfort and space and we pride ourselves on the fact that there will always be somewhere comfortable and private for visits with family and friends. We provide the best of both worlds, as residents can maintain their independence, privacy and dignity but also have the safety, support and reassurance of having highly skilled and caring staff available at all times. We listen, we hear and we act when our residents talk to us.

We provide a welcome and homely atmosphere as it is very important to us that the residents feel at home here.

We also boast a large garden with a sensory theme which is perfect for residents to sit out in when the weather allows and to go for a nice walk. We also have the use of a large activity room in an adjacent building that also has kitchen and dining facilities. This has been host to the various in-house activities we offer such as arts and crafts, aromatherapy massage, creative dance as well as parties and discos.

We have adapted a room into a sensory environment. This room is available for use at any time and can be very relaxing and therapeutic for those with complex needs.

It is important to us that the people we support are offered and involved in choice on a daily basis. Special diets are catered for. We have an open visit policy so residents can welcome family and friends at times that are convenient to them.

Having a person centred approach for each individual resident is very important to us. With their help an individual care and person centred plan is devised, with support from family and friends as appropriate.
